Posten Norden acquires transport company EKL

Posten Norden has increased its capacity for transport services between Europe and the Nordic countries by acquiring Belgian transport company EKL. International companies can now be offered stronger logistic solutions to and from the Nordic region via Europe.

Posten Norden will become the sole owner of EKL. The company's domestic market includes Belgium and parts of France, and a considerable proportion of its transport assignments are to the rest of Europe.

"An increasing number of European companies are seeing the potential of the Nordic region as a single market, with strong purchasing power among companies and consumers. The acquisition of EKL will reinforce Posten Norden's capacity to meet the demand for deliveries as well as for turnkey logistics solutions between Europe and the Nordic region," says Henrik Höjsgaard, Senior Vice President, Head of business area Logistics.

The central warehouses of many international companies are located in Belgium and the Netherlands. The purchase of EKL will boost Posten Norden's logistics operations in the Benelux region, thus enabling Posten Norden to offer companies stronger logistics solutions between Europe and the Nordic region.

Under the name HIT Belgium, EKL will be part of Posten Norden's logistics operations in Central Europe, which already operate in the Netherlands and Germany. Both companies have cooperated over several years via transport service partnerships.
