PostNord's expansion of the Langhus terminal in Oslo underpins e-commerce growth

There is strong growth in the e-commerce sector, so PostNord is now investing in modern technology and more floorspace at the terminal in Langhus in Norway, to cater for the increases in volume in that country.

- “We are making an investment in the Oslo region to ensure future growth and development in e-commerce. The investment will help us increase our capacity and develop our distribution network in the Nordic region, and safeguard our position in the Norwegian market,” says PostNord’s acting President and Group CEO Annemarie Gardshol.

As a result of the investment in the terminal in Langhus, PostNord’s capacity in Norway will increase to 250,000 parcels per day. At the same time, the expansion of the sorting facility will also lead to more automated parcel handling and better delivery precision. Overall, the terminal space will be increased by 10,000 square meters.

The expansion work will start in the second quarter of 2019 and is expected to be completed during the third quarter of 2020.

- “The plan is that the expansion will be ready by mid-September, so that the new terminal can be properly tested in good time before Black Friday and the Christmas period in 2020,” concludes Annemarie Gardshol.
