Byrknes Auto now a part of Post Nord

PostNord has today finalized the acquisition of certain assets of Byrknes Auto AS. The business will be included in PostNord’s accounts as of February 1, 2013 as a part of business area Logistics. The acquisition means additional strengthening of PostNord’s position in the growing Norwegian logistics market.

Byrknes Auto is one of Norway’s largest thermo carriers. The company offer services primarily for fish and grocery transportations. Byrknes Auto had sales of NOK 293.6 m in 2011. The number of employees was approximately 100.

- With the acquisitions of Byrknes Auto, and before that Harlem Transport, we take a strong position within fish and grocery transportations in Norway which improves our utilization of linehaul capacity and creates opportunities for new organic growth, says Robin Olsen, CEO Tollpost Globe.

PostNord’s logistics operations in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland had sales of approximately SEK 13 billion in 2011. Operations are focused on parcel, pallet, express and third-party logistics. PostNord’s logistics operations in Norway are run through Tollpost Globe AS, one of Norway's three largest logistics companies with NOK 2.7 billion in sales in 2011.
