NKL and Transbothnia are now part of PostNord

PostNord AB finalized today the acquisition of Bilfrakt BothniaAB subsidiaries Nordisk Kyl Logistik AB (NKL) and Transbothnia AB. Prior to the acquisition, Bilfrakt transferred industrial and grocery logistics operations to the acquired companies. The businesses will be included in PostNord’s financial statements as of June 12, 2013 as part of business area Logistics.

- We welcome NKL and Transbothnia customers and employees to the Nordic region’s leading communication and logistics company. The acquisitions broaden our logistics business in Sweden with mixed cargo, consignment goods and thermo and further strengthen our position in the growing Nordic logistics market, said Henrik Höjsgaard, Head of business area Logistics at PostNord.

The Bilfrakt businesses acquired by PostNord had sales in 2012 of around SEK 1 billion, employ 280 people and are leaders in northern Sweden within mixed cargo, consignment goods and thermo. For the most part, external haulage contractors are used by the businesses, which have terminals in Luleå, Skellefteå, Umeå, Sundsvall, Östersund and Överkalix.

PostNord’s logistics businesses in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland had sales in 2012 of around SEK 14.8 billion, representing over one-third of group sales. PostNord is developing its logistics operations towards becoming the leading player in the Nordic logistics market through measures including further expansion of its product portfolio. PostNord’s 2012 acquisitions included Green Cargo’s third-party logistics operations.
