PostNord acquires the remaining shares in TransportGruppen A/S

PostNord strengthens its position in the Nordic logistics market by acquiring the remaining outstanding shares in logistics company Transportgruppen A/S. Since 2007, Post Danmark has held 51 percent of the shares in Transportgruppen, which is one of Denmark’s leading operators in the market for pallet and mixed cargo.

- The acquisition means that we are strengthening our position in the market for pallet and mixed cargo both in Denmark and in the Nordics. As sole owner of Transportgruppen, we will be able to develop and manage the company faster and create competitive customer solutions, among other things through closer cooperation between Transportgruppen and other PostNord business areas, says Carsten Dalbo, head of PostNord’s business area Logistics in Denmark.

In 2010, Transportgruppen had sales in excess of DKK 230 million, with 800 employees and 600 trucks. PostNord has already consolidated Transportgruppen within its business area Logistics.

The acquisition of Transportgruppen A/S is the latest in a string of acquisitions made by PostNord in the Nordic logistics market. Earlier this year, it acquired Norwegian Eek Transport, among the ten largest suppliers of transportation and logistics services in Norway, and Nils Hansson Logistics in Sweden.

- The transaction is fully aligned with PostNord’s strategy to develop and strengthen our market position through partnerships and acquisitions, and strengthens our position as a leading player within logistics services to, from and within the Nordics, says Carsten Dalbo.

Transportgruppen looks forward to an even closer cooperation with PostNord:

- It is entirely positive for us to have PostNord as owner. It creates the opportunities we need to operate and develop Transportgruppen and ensures that in the future we will be even stronger in the pallet and mixed cargo market in Denmark and the Nordics. I look forward to continued good and close cooperation with PostNord,” says Peter Bjerregaard, CEO of Transportgruppen.

Initially, the new ownership structure has no practical significance to PostNord and Transportgruppen customers. Quality and service will remain unchanged, and Transportguppen’s products will continue as before, until further notice. Customers will receive more information about the acquisition in the next few days.
