PostNord divests Strålfors Identification Solutions

PostNord AB streamlines its business communication operations within the business area Information Logistics and divests Strålfors Identification Solutions, owned by Strålfors AB. The divestiture is made by having EsonPac Group AB, a newly established company jointly owned by Strålfors AB and EsonPac Holding AB, acquiring the shares in Strålfors Identification Solution and EsonPac. The transaction will create one of the leading packaging groups in the Nordic region.

PostNord’s business area Information Logistics comprises two divisions: Strålfors Information Logistics and Strålfors Identification Solutions (”SIS”). The core business of the business area is within the division Strålfors Information Logistics, which generates a majority of the business area’s sales and has the greatest number of employees. The other division, SIS, comprises, among other things, the former Labels business area of Strålfors. SIS has operations inSweden,Denmark,NorwayandSwitzerland. The annual sales of SIS amounted in 2010 to SEK 572 million and the number of employees is approximately 340.

PostNord is making the divestiture with the aim of focusing the operations of business area Information Logistics on its core business, comprising solutions for business communication, such as printing and enveloping, personalization of plastic cards, services for electronic information transfer, fulfillment (third party logistics) as well as services for the optimization of customer information flow.

The agreement made between PostNord’s subsidiary,StrålforsAB, and EsonPac Group AB makes EsonPac Group the owner of both SIS and enveloping companyEsonPacAB, creating a leading operator in the Nordic region within cardboard packaging, labels, manuals and booklets. EsonPac Group will have sales of over SEK 1 billion and will employ approximately 550 people. Strålfors will remain as joint owner in Eson Pac Group AB during a limited period of time.

- We are very pleased that an industrial solution has been found in which SIS’s operation now is a part of the owner’s core business. For PostNord the transaction means a further step towards streamlining operations within Information Logistics to our core business, which is business communication,” says Per Samuelson, head of business area Information Logistics and CEO of Strålfors.
