PostNord Oy acquires Uudenmaan Pikakuljetus Oy
Today PostNord Oy has agreed to acquire Uudenmaan Pikakuljetus Oy (UPK) from DSV Road Oy. The acquisition significantly enhances PostNord's position in Finland regarding domestic parcel deliveries, scheduled deliveries, health care and e-commerce logistics, as well as temperature-controlled transport services. The acquisition requires the approval of the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority. PostNord expects the acquisition to be fully concluded by the beginning of September.
Uudenmaan Pikakuljetus Oy specialises in express parcel deliveries as well as scheduled and temperature-controlled transport services. Its other area of specialised expertise is health care logistics. In 2014, UPK had a turnover of approximately EUR 24 million and a staff of some 60 employees. The company maintains operations all over Finland and is renowned for its high quality.
In Finland, PostNord enjoys a strong position in parcel delivery services and, in particular, scheduled InNight deliveries. PostNord offers international mail services, groupage shipments, parcel and pallet services, and warehousing solutions. PostNord also enjoys a strong presence in e-commerce logistics. PostNord Oy is part of the PostNord Group, which is a leading Nordic communications and logistics corporation.

This will allow for effective increase of transport volumes, thus also improving delivery reliability. This, in turn, lays a solid foundation on which to further increase our business operations. The acquisition is also a demonstration of the PostNord strategy to strengthen its position in Finland,” says Jari Rinnekoski, CEO of PostNord Oy.
The acquisition will increase PostNord's Finnish operations by approximately a third.
